LIGO Finds Gravitational Waves
Posted on Friday, February 12, 2016 by Cory McCartanThe National Science Foundation’s LIGO experiment today announced that it had observed gravitational waves, the result of two colliding black holes around a billion years ago.
Both LIGO detectors, in Washington and in Louisiana, confirmed the gravitational waves.
Watch the video below to hear what the waves sound like. The first sound is unaltered; the second, a frequency-shifted version that is more in the range of human hearing.
